Roy van Kempen

Roy van Kempen, born on the 10th June 1989 in Leiden, had a long list of hobbies before he discovered his true passion for bmx around the age of fifteen. While other hobbies like fishing and soccer came and went, he saw bmx at the Xgames and made his definite choice: he was going to ride bmx.
After he got a job at the Dutch bmx-shop Soulcycle through his sister things started rolling. With the help of the shop he got his first sponsor, United Bike co., and one and a half years later Animal Bikes. Roy is one of the most motivated riders I know; he never has a session without landing a new trick or line. When out filming he is always pushing his own capabilities to come up with something he hasn’t done before and can be proud of.
Also his study, sports management and business, is related to bmx. He really wants to get as much out of everything as possible. Now when this chapter of studying is almost finished, he is going to try to get as far as his bike will take him.
