We are really proud to announce the beginning of a new series of interviews featuring riders around the world. The riders’ interview will feature 10 questions about their life so you guys can learn a little bit more about the person. It will also feature a few pictures as well as their latest web edit.
To start of, we have the pleasure to feature So-Cal all around shredder, Mikey Babbel. We have always been big fan of Mikey, here at Weareorangejuice, and couldn’t be more happy to have this interview with Mikey! Enjoy and follow him on Twitter and Instagram: @mikeybabbel
1. Where’s are you from, how old are you and what’s your occupation?
I’m 20 years old, currently living in Temcula, Ca, and my occupation is to have fun everyday!
2. When and how did you start riding bmx?
I started racing bmx at the age of 3 up until I was about 8. I decide to try other sports like skating and dirt bikes, but I couldn’t stay away from my bike. When I was 13 my brothers got me a DK Cincinnati for Christmas and I was hook. Been trying to grind everything insight since!
3. When you were a child and all those adults would ask you, “And what do you want to be when you grow up?” what did you say?
I never really knew what I wanted to be when I got older and still don’t ha! I don’t really think about it too much. Just going to keep having fun on my bike and see what happens!
4. What is a normal day for you?
Roll out of bed around 10 followed by some Starbucks to get my body movin’ then hit the trails and shovel for a while and end the day with either a trail session or we hit up some local street spots.
5. How is it to live in California and have all those amazing spots to ride everyday?
The spots are insane out here! You just gotta drive all over to find em. unfortunately I don’t get out of town too much to ride the sweet spots, but when I do I’m juiced
6. What’s the scene around where you live like?
The scene has gotten pretty damn big within the last few years. New kids seem to be popping up everyday on bikes now. its fucking sick! Quite a few kids have been making a name for themselves out here so thats dope to see.
7. You just got back from a Hoffman Bike trip, how was it?
How are things going with them, any signature products on the way? The trip was awesome! couldn’t think those dudes enough for it! We all handled some rad shit. We are getting a few trips in order to work on some upcoming projects so be on the look out! No sig. parts yet so ask for em! haha
8. Also you have signature line of t-shirts with Freedom clothing?
Care to tell us a bit more about it? Yeah, last year I was hit up by the Freedom guys and was offered a sig. clothing line. being that they were a local company that has been around since the mid 90s, I was pretty stoked to jump aboard. Since then, we have put out quite a bit of shirts which you can find at freedomclothing.com
9. What’s the best trip you’ve ever been?
The Hoffman trip to San Antonio, Texas was the shit. Never a dull moment haha! Thanks to everyone that made that possible!
10. Any shootouts?
Big thanks goes to Hoffman Bikes, Coalition bmx, 43 Hardware, Freedom Clothing and Globe shoes! You guys keep my bike and threads looking good! Also to my friends and Family. wouldn’t be who I am without them! And finally, thanks to We Are Orange Juice for this interview! appreciate it!
