Tomorrow the first FSO x WAOJ street jam will take place in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. Together with the street jam we are also releasing our first FSO x WAOJ collab shirt. A lot of people were asking me who or what is FSO? So to introduce FSO my plan was to email one of the owners Fieze Jur some questions. Fieze Jur had a better idea, we went to the LUX bar in Amsterdam and did the interview while sipping on some beers. This is exactly how I describe FSO. We over at Orange Juice are really happy with the fact that we will do more collabs with FSO in the future. So be prepared for some amazing designs and more crazy street jams in the future. Lady’s and gentlemen check out the interview with Fieze Jur about FSO!
Can you give us a short introduction to FSO?
I’m Fieze Jur and I am “Boss One” of FSO, the BMX crew from Amsterdam. FSO stands for Vuige jams, Killer t-shirts and a Gnar party attitude.
We are:
Jurrien Fieze Jur Brouwer: Boss One
Boy B2 Janssen : Boss Two
Misha Ferry Sexy Rath : Backup Boss
Mark Peace Vos: team rider
Maityn Sidepipe Pedroso Napolitao: team rider
Tell us something about yourself; Boss 1. You’re named Fieze Jur (which translates into ‘Dirty Jur’), but you look pretty neat, how did you get your name?
Whenever we hit the bars in Amsterdam, Dutch rapper Fieze Fur always seemed to be around. It didn’t matter if it was on the dance floor in the ‘Bitterzoet’, or at our local bar. It seemed like wherever I went; Fieze Fur was standing or sitting next to me. It did not take long for Mischa and the crew to come up with the nickname Fieze Jur.
Where does the name ‘FSO’ stand for?
FSO stands for ‘Fette Shit Ouwe’ whenever somebody landed a dope trick you yell out: ‘Fette Shit Ouwe!’ We inherited it from the early posse that rode the‘Museumplein’ in the late 90-ies. It stuck and Mischa soon founded FSO. In 2003 I moved to Amsterdam and bumped into Mischa. That was the 2nd and glorious beginning of FSO, as we know it today.
FSO has been kind of timid these last years. The last FSO jam was held in 2009. I guess together with WAOJ you guys are planning world domination?
Yeah, we think the collaboration between WOAJ and FSO will turn out to be awesome. Roy and Tom and the rest who make up WAOJ are doing a awesome thing. We are very impressed with what they achieved. And they have their shit on lock down, I mean, dope site, dope shirts and all delivered with a great sense of style. We hope FSO will bring their unique blend to the mix. This collab might be the beginning of a great relationship. FSO is looking forward to working more often with the guys of WAOJ.
So FSO is still alive and kicking?
FSO will always be alive…
Where does FSO get it’s inspiration from? It’s really different from the other BMX brands…
The funny thing is that Misha and I aren’t like each other at all… I’m pretty neat and Misha is… well… Misha, with tattoos and stuff… But we have an amazing creative chemistry.
Basically there are three parts to what makes FSO:
First, it must be ‘Vuig’ (which would be close to the word ‘base’ in English).
Vuig? Vuig! Vuig is rock, rough, obscene, hard and horny. The stuff you’re mother doesn’t like.
Secondly, it is the DIY approach we, draw, make and print all the stuff our self.
Thirdly, Mischa and me are just extremely talented good looking guys, haha
What’s the best thing that happened to FSO?
So far, all the respect and support we get from the scene. It is so cool when people ask you when the next FSO Jam will be, tell you how dope the shirts are, or talking about the stuff that went down years ago at a FSO party. That shit makes you motivated and hyped for the next FSO project.
What can we expect from the upcoming FSO jam?
We are expecting, vuige mayhem in the streets of Amsterdam. This Jam will be really big with 115 people, who said they want to join. Every known rider from Holland will be there, so either way, it’s going to be awesome.
The most fun part is the surprises. Everyone can win a prize on this Jam; you don’t need to land ‘best trick’, since we’ve got tons of other options to win a prize. Young and old will be in for prizes. We want everyone to attend to the jam and share moments they won’t forget. This way we also hope to inspire the kids who will join for he first time.
Thanks for the interview Fieze Jur, is there anything you would like to add?
I want to thank a lot of people: but most importantly Mischa, without him no FSO. Next up all the cool people who have supported FSO, the amazing cool people who bought our shirts, who came to our jams, who sponsored our jams, who helped out, who partied with us, and last but not least WAOJ for this opportunity.
