Yesterday I went to Nijmegen to the BBQ jam. With over 40 riders and 78 visitors, it wasn’t very crowded but the vibe was really good! Not to mention the burgers from the stoned skateboarder were delicious.

The park is so much fun to ride everything is handmade out of concrete. Its mostly street but they also got a sick pool, which is super hard to ride because of the weird shapes of the concrete. Unfortunately lots of the skateparks in Holland don’t allow pegs because they think the pegs destroy the obstacles. So after everybody switched their pegs into plegs we were allowed to ride the park.

The contest was divided in three small contests: furthest 180, Best gap/wall ride and sickest grind combo.

The 180 contest was insane, two riders really stepped their game up. A guy called ‘Doekoe’ and Thomas Ruisen, winner of last years 180 contest, were both riding on bikes which almost fell apart. They both landed close to 5 meters (16 feet) but eventually Thomas took home the title.

The other two contests where a little weird because nobody knew they were already started but Jonathan Jansen won the best grind combo with a ‘feeble manual feeble manual bar’ and Frank Elshof won best gap/wallride.

Aaron Zwaal was there to shot some pics which you can check out below.

I would like to thank Maarten Mulders and Rutger van de Pol for organizing the event and the sponsors: Waalhalla skatepark, Soulcycle bmx shop and Vans Europe. I had a blast!
